Suffolk County Council Support Line
Suffolk County Council launched a support line for those with money, job or employment worries: As the pandemic has gone on, the challenges that people face are changing. In the early days, that need was addressed through Home But Not Alone, which was incredibly successful and is ready to be stood up should that need arise again.
However, now we see that the help needed relates to money, job and housing worries. This service is for everyone – not just those facing severe hardship, but people who may not have struggled with money or job worries ever before. We want people to phone this number before they max out their credit card, or apply for loans, or get in debt with family.
Staff that answer the calls are trained to understand what help that person may need – however minor you might think it is. It is also set up with what is called a warm handover system so you only need to tell your story once. If you are referred on you haven’t got to start from scratch again.
Connecting Communities
Connecting Communities is a transport service supporting passengers in Haverhill and surrounding villages.
The service supports those that would otherwise find it difficult to use public transport, perhaps because there is a limited bus service or find using the network buses a little challenging, preferring supported door to door transport.
The service operates Monday to Friday 8.30 until 4.30. It is also able to support journeys to attend hospital appointments. Call 01638 664304 for further information.
We fully understand how important transport can be, connecting people to essential services, shopping, family and friends.
