Please be aware Bridewell Street and Callis Street Clare will be closed from 4 January until 19 February for drainage works – see the notice below from SCC Highways.
Work is being carried out on drainage improvement scheme along B1063 Bridewell Street and Callis Street, Clare between Hermitage Meadow and Common Street. The work will involve the installation of new gullies, pipework, and new catchpit chambers to alleviate highway flooding.
The works are programmed to take place from 4 January 2021 and will continue until 19 February 2021. Due to the works taking place within the centre of the carriageway, it will be necessary for the road to be closed for 24 hours a day, this is to ensure the safety of our teams on site and road users.
For the duration of the road closure, traffic will be diverted via B1063, A143, B1061, A1017, A1092 and vice versa.
Access from the Poslingford direction, to the Townsend Bridewell Estate will be unrestricted for the duration of the road closure; however, due to the nature of the works, vehicles requiring through access from the A1092, will be need to follow the diversion route.
As we plan roadworks in advance, we schedule extra days to allow for bad weather or other delays beyond our control. If we need to make major changes to our work dates, we will update the information signs on site.
A plan showing the diversion route for these works is attached to this email. When we close the road and put a diversion in place, the route needs to be accessible to vehicles of all shapes and sizes. We make our diversions as clear as possible by placing appropriate signing along the route. The latest updates on our works can be found on our website at"Temporary road closures for Suffolk Highways roadworks” and on One.Network website.
There may be times that essential emergency works are required to take place on the highway network without advanced notice – you can follow Suffolk Highways on Twitter for the latest emergency roadwork updates.
